Its wool and organic cotton activewear balance style and function.
When it comes to natural fiber activewear, you no longer have to compromise on comfort or style. The sponge-like, boxy cotton tees and scratchy wool crewnecks of the early aughts have evolved into sleek, soft, temperature-regulating pieces.
Case in point: Nagnata, an Australian fashion and lifestyle brand, is designing garments that are elevated in construction, form, and feel with the use of materials like organic cotton and Merino wool. Now, some of the luxe pieces are available in The Shop at Equinox.
The collection is curated with versatility, performance, and studio-to-street sensibility in mind, says Founder and Creative Director Laura May Gibbs. The pieces — including the Classic Wool Bralet, Micro Wool Short, and Demi Wool Legging — feature Nagnata’s signature clean lines and seamless Merino wool “second-skin” fabrication. Meanwhile, the Surya All-In Suit puts the “play” in “playsuit” — the halter-top Merino wool piece is topped off with a recycled plexiglass trim keyhole detail, fit for low-impact workouts and low-key fashion moments outside of the Club. The styles are made to move with the body, not fight against it, while holding their shape over time, says Gibbs.

"Our garments are designed to support movement, [to] allow our skin to breathe while softly sculpting your body,” says Gibbs. “We want people to feel a sense of strength and sensuality, to carry themselves with intention, whether they’re on the mat or walking through the city. Nagnata is as much about energy as it is about your expression through clothing.”
They’re also designed to honor the planet. Nagnata is currently working to become a certified B Corporation, and many of Nagnata’s pieces, including those offered in The Shop at Equinox, are constructed mainly with natural materials, like wool and organic cotton. These fibers may be safely biodegraded, and the wool Nagnata uses is RWS certified, meaning its sourced from farms that meet specific animal welfare, land management, and social welfare standards.
“There’s something undeniably luxurious about natural fibers,” adds Gibbs. “They allow our skin to breathe, wick moisture without holding odor, and feel beautiful against our body. Our superfine Merino wool is thermoregulating — it keeps you cool in heat, warm in chill.”
The timeless pieces can be mixed and matched, allowing you to slowly build up a high-quality wardrobe that lasts for years to come, says Gibbs. The design approach is a reflection of Nagnata’s mantra: “Movements Not Seasons.” “The fashion industry moves at a relentless pace, and we choose to step back from that pressure to keep up for the sake of newness…Our focus is on building a foundational Nagnata uniform, pieces that evolve with our customer and don’t expire at the end of a trend cycle,” she explains. “It’s about designing garments that move with you, both literally and culturally.”

To the founder, being up-front and honest about Nagnata’s commitment — and the work it still needs to do — to reduce its environmental footprint is an act of accountability. “Our community values progress over perfection, and we want to bring them into the journey,” says Gibbs. “From sourcing to supply chain, we believe people have the right to know where their clothing comes from and how it’s made.”
To put it simply, says Gibbs, “every piece is made to last, made to feel, and made to matter.”
