Last year, surf icon Kelly Slater unveiled his sustainable, beach-inspired menswear brand Outerknown in partnership with designer John Moore. Items like the cozy Pacifica Poncho modeled after a Baja hoodie evoke surf culture but a shearling-lined denim coat and the mix-stripe alpaca-wool sweater take the collection off the water. There’s a rigorous sustainability angle, too: Outerknown uses recycled materials, avoids working with companies that use harmful products in the manufacturing process, and partners with production facilities that follow the Fair Labor Association’s code of conduct. 

Lukas Podolski, the 2014 World Cup winner who recently announced his retirement from international soccer duty with Germany after the 2016 European Championships, has a streetwear-influenced clothing brand that features a lot of graphic references to the soccer forward’s hometown of Cologne. The inventory here includes everything from wool and leather bomber jackets, colorblock sweatshirts, studded backpacks, knit beanies, and plenty of graphic T-shirts. 

Soccer star Robbie Rogers's collaboration with stylist Warren Alfie Baker launched this past spring with a limited collection of high-end jean jackets using premium Italian denim. Coming in five colorways, some feature eye-catching embroidery on the back. The Dean, for example, features the brand’s logo while the Cobain has a cool, totem-style bird.
