GAIL LAPPEN"I’m now living with more energy and vitality than I have in over 20 years!"
I was diagnosed with Epstein Barr in 1988. For nearly a year, I was bedridden and needed daily care to function. I slowly recovered, but was left with chronic fatigue since my diagnosis. I had another episode in 1992, and I am still unable to live a normal life.
After the second attack by the virus, part of me just gave up. I went to great, knowledgeable doctors, but I really had to re-design my life to accommodate a limited lifestyle. I had to be extremely careful not to do too much activity and trust the signs and symptoms of my body. I wanted to spend life like a normal person, but every time I tried I paid the price. I learned over the years how to adjust and accept that I would simply never be able to live a full, active life.
Five months ago, I made a really bold and spontaneous choice to check out Equinox. I instantly loved the energy, cleanliness, friendliness, and professional respect that I felt that day. I was also able to speak with the Personal Training Manager, who was fantastic and really understood my health and fitness challenges. She even mentioned that there was a specific Trainer at the club who would be great for me, as he had trained others like me and knew about my condition.
I ultimately joined Equinox a few days later and met with the recommended Trainer, Shad Swinehart. We began training and working together to design special exercises and stretches for me. I now train with him two to three days a week and I feel amazing! Over the last five months, I’ve improved my weight, cholesterol, and most importantly, my energy level. My energy and progress continues to improve and I am extremely grateful for Shad’s help. I am also thankful for Equinox, as it continues to be a warm, welcoming place to take great care of myself. I’m happy and proud I gave myself a second chance, and I’m now living with more energy and vitality than I have in over 20 years!
